NOLA PON is now New Orleans Parents Guide 10/22/2012
As you may know, NOLA PON has worked for the past year to find our direction and decide what we do best and where our effort is most needed. After a long period of reflection and lots of listening, we’ve come to some decisions …
First and foremost, we believe in the power of parents and that engaged families are essential to creating great public schools. We know that parents are experts on their children whose expertise should be valued. We also believe that families can best engage when they have access to honest and transparent information and we know that information about public schools is especially critical in our current school landscape.
With those beliefs in mind, we have decided to focus on what we have consistently done best – produce and distribute quality information about schools in New Orleans to families. Moving forward, we will make this the center of our efforts and have changed our name to New Orleans Parents Guide to better reflect this focus.
Given this new focus, Aesha Rasheed, NOLA PON Founder and creator of the New Orleans Parents’ Guide to Public Schools, has returned to serve as our Editor and organizational leader.
What does this all mean?
1) We will continue to publish a printed version of the New Orleans Parents Guide to Public Schools as long a print edition is relevant and resourced.
2) We will formally launch a mobile app version of the Parents’ Guide that offers easily portable access to information about schools for smart phone users this fall ... you can get the NOLA Parents Guide App now at the iTunes App Store and Google Play for Android phones.
3) We will continue to work in partnership with LASchoolFinder.com to include information found in the Parents Guide in this searchable online database of schools.
Also we will be updating our website soon and in the meantime, we have a you can find us at our new website address www.neworleansparentsguide.orgso please update your links and bookmarks as appropriate.
Thank you so much for your support of NOLA PON and of the Parents’ Guide. We hope to continue to work with you for a day when all families have access to great public schools for their children.
